IGGY POP & JAMES WILLIAMSON'S "KILL CITY" RE-MIXED & REMASTERED OUT 10/19!
IGGY POP & JAMES WILLIAMSON'S KILL CITY RESTORED, RE-MIXED & REMASTERED
OUT OCT. 19TH ON ALIVE NATURALSOUND & BOMP! RECORDS
IGGY & THE STOOGES CLOSE OUT THEIR 2010 WORLD TOUR WITH FOUR U.S. DATES
I like what this album has to say.
It is rather high concept, and the music is well thought out.
It adheres to no particular genre.
A lot of people have borrowed its ideas.
It's one of the very first independent LPs I know of.
I hope you like it.
IGGY POP
Kill City was by all measures a desperate effort, a singularly honest and heartfelt performance, a genuine progression of our song writing, and another in a long line of flops that were later resurrected and heralded as masterpieces.
By the time it was released as a record, both Iggy and I were off doing other things with our lives, but with this rerelease we are not only reunited in our musical endeavors but in our appreciation of this album, its remix, and its importance to us as artists.

JAMES WILLIAMSON
Kill City is Iggy Pop and James Williamson’s often overlooked, yet ultimately essential album that musically bridges the gap between The Stooges’ volatile 1973 studio masterpiece Raw Power and Iggy’s first two magnificent solo efforts, The Idiot and Lust for Life. Originally recorded in 1975 and later released by Bomp! Records in '77, critics have long lauded the songs and performances on Kill City but have also regarded the overall sound as “sludgy.”
The sound quality of Kill City was compromised from the get-go, as it originally suffered from a bad pressing (on the infamous green vinyl), and over the years the quality of the record itself managed to get even worse. When the original distributor went out of business, the 2-track album production masters vanished and every subsequent pressing of the album - on record, cassette and CD - used a copy of that deficient green vinyl as its master.
Now 33 years later, Alive Naturalsound and Bomp! Records are co-releasing the long overdue restored, re-mixed and remastered version of this historically important record. James remixed the album with engineer Ed Cherney at Capitol Records in Hollywood, and as the guitarist states, "He just made this record sound, well, like it should have sounded all along. It has finally reached its full potential."

The October release of this album also follows Iggy & The Stooges' current world tour (featuring the reunited James Williamson on guitar), where they’ve been performing material from Kill City live for the first time.
Kill City will be available on October 19th as a CD Digipak featuring the original 1977 artwork and a 24-page booklet with rare and unseen photos. The vinyl first-run is a limited edition of 1,000 on clear green vinyl (as an homage to the original 1977 pressing). There are no bonus tracks, but, with this newly restored version, people will be able to discover, or re-discover, a truly great album as it was intended to sound.

Iggy and the Stooges - Contest / Series
MVD Entertainment Group has launched the site www.InTheHandsOfTheFans.com to offer fans a once in a lifetime opportunity to film and interview Iggy and the Stooges performing the seminal punk rock masterpiece RAW POWER at the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival on September 3, 2010. So far, the submissions have been entertaining and enlightening. Take Nick Esposito for example, who's first and only trip on an airplane was by himself to see the Stooges reunion show at Coachella... Or possibly Edwin Samuelson who has jumped on stage with the Stooges almost every time he has seen them... It could be any one of these people, but in the end, six lucky fans will be chosen by way of a video submission contest to join director Joey Carey on location at the Stardust Theater at Kutchers' Country Club in Monticello, NY. This marks the reunion between Iggy Pop and powerhouse guitarist James Williamson as well as original Stooges drummer Scott "Rock Action" Asheton. Also featuring Mike Watt on bass and Steve Mackay on saxophone. The contest is based on fans submitting short high definition video segments asking Iggy and the Stooges interview questions, or demonstrating why they should win the contest. Winners of the contest will film and interview Iggy and the Stooges at All Tomorrow's Parties. This fan shot footage, along with the contestant video submissions, will be crafted into a high definition longform program, which will be part concert film and part reality TV show about the journey of the fans. "Raw Power is one of the greatest, most dangerous albums in the history of rock and roll" says Ed Seaman, C.O.O. of MVD Entertainment Group. "We are honored to enable the fans this connection with the band; this will be a dream come true for the winners." IN THE HANDS OF THE FANS will be sustainable as a series; MVD is already deep in discussions with a number of other artists and expects to have five more programs shot within the next six months with new announcements expected any day. The final program for Iggy and the StoogesIN THE HANDS OF THE FANS is expected to release on DVD, BluRay, digital download and broadcast by early 2011. All contestants will receive a special offer to purchase the film early along with some exclusive value added content. A commercial featuring Handsome Dick Manitoba (the Dictators, Little Steven's Underground Garage DJ) and Iggy has been recorded and will be distributed throughout the web via websites, social media networks, blogs, etc. |

The Notekillers to Release "We're Here to Help" via Prophase Music
The Notekillers, who originally slugged it out during the punk wars of the late 1970's, continue their improbable reincarnation march with this barely-hinged celebration of rock & roll noise. Woefully under-documented back in the day, their only official recording - The Zipper, a self-released 7" - was a favorite amongst the cognoscenti in the experimental underground and a secret influence on some of the most important avant-bands of the past 20 years.
Now, following an acclaimed archival release on Thurston Moore's Ecstatic Peace! label, the Notekillers complete their leap out of the shadows and land solidly in the present with "We're Here to Help" - a brand new LP with all new material developed during their second life. Rich with tuneful, neck-snapping hooks that explode at any and all times, this album will connect deeply with anyone who lives for the dizzying, defibrillating power of positive audio aggression.
With "We're Here to Help" the Notekillers present further evidence that they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath with any of the mightiest musical units on the planet. They will be playing the Philadelphia Film and Music Festival as part of the Prophase Music Showcase on 9/23 (At the M Room with Kohoutek, American Speedway, and Dark Sea Dream).
David First was recently interviewed for inclusion in the upcoming music doc Philly Pop Music - The Lost Pioneers
"Astonishing...While the rhythm section churns furiously, David First peels off a series of scrambled guitar lines, precise even when he's improvising. His diagonal riffs are marvelously untraceable (Surf-rock? New-wave? Heavy metal? Free jazz? Serialism?), and somehow these dense compositions inevitably come out sounding like party music. It's clear this band ranked with any of New York's much celebrated no-wave acts." - Kelefa Sanneh | New York Times
"That record (The Zipper) was so heavy for me and Kim and Lee...It was this propulsive guitar instrumental that was just breakneck...They had a big influence on me...The music is way ahead of its time." -Thurston Moore
